A NICE TROMPE-L’ŒIL PLATE
Hard-paste porcelain plate, border ornate with a faux-malachite ground, surrounded by large gilt rims, center ornate with a polychrome romantic scene depicting a naked woman escaping from a man kneeling, under a weeping willow.
The green painting and the gilding are a little worn, a very small crack on the rim.
Parisian or Russian porcelain factory, unmarked, 1810-1830.
Diameter: 22, 5 cm.
The absence of mark and the presence of the malachite, which is quite rare with Ceramics, lead us to believe that the manufacturing and/or the recipient could be Russian.
