A rare Sèvres royal bust

Hard-porcelain biscuit bust of Louis-Philippe, of 3rd zize, reprezented as Duc d’Orléans, wearing the Grand-Croix order of the Legion of Honour, after a model by Régnier presented at the Salon of 1817, on a blue porcelain pedestal base.

Good condition.

Sèvres porcelain Royal factory, 1831.

Fully marked : “Grand feu” mark : 11 a(oû)t (18)30, blue printed mark for ornamentation : 1831, mark of gilder possibly Mme Micaud.

Incised marks : Regnier 1817/Mas/F-32-n°3. 


Realized by Jean-Etienne Mascret père (called Mas, active 1811-1848) after a model by J.M. Ferdinand Régnier.

Heigth : 30 cm.

Provenance

This is one of the 7 busts hastily delivered to the Mobilier de la Couronne on January, 23rd 1832 (actually 10 busts but 7 with blue pedestal), following the intronisation of Louis-Philippe on the throne of France. 



Reference

Two of the 10 others busts delivered to the Crown are known, one with blue pedestal is at the Musée national du château de Fontainebleau (inv. F1132C, originally delivered to Saint-Cloud), the other one without blue pedestal is at the Château de Chantilly (inv. OA2358).
