RARE COMMEMORATIVE CIPHER CRYSTAL GLASS
Crystal pedestal glass, mold-blown, of cylindrical and splayed shape, engraved at the center with a Royal cipher ornate with the double L of Louis enclosing a fleur-de-lys, under the French royal crown, the low part is decorated with diagonal and horizontal stripes. The upper edge is gilt (used).
Unidentified glass manufactory, probably France, probably beginning of the XIXth century.
Height: 16, 5 cm.
We find this exact cipher on book covers of the king Louis XV, also on Vincennes porcelain marks of Louis XV period. As the manufacturing seems to be of 19th century, we think that this uncommon glass is commemorative, probably from the Louis XVIII period, unless it could be coming from one of his table services.
