White ground porcelain soup plate, with contoured rims, decorated in relief into the paste with plant patterns on the wing, in a spirally moulded ground, the border centered with the Royal cipher of the Prince, a gilt N under the royal crown of Greece. Gilt rims slightly worn.

Manufacture of Ernst Wahliss, Vien, beginning of the XXth century.

Prince Nicholas of Greece and Denmark (1872-1938), from his Royal porcelain service.

Prince Nicholas is the third son and the fourth child of King George I of Greece (1845-1913) and of his spouse Grand-Duchess Olga Constantinovna of Russia (1851-1926). By his father, he is the grand-son of King Christian IX of Denmark (1818-1906), « the stepfather of Europe », and by his mother, he is the great-grand-son of tsar Nicholas I of Russia (1796-1855). On 29th August 1902, the Prince married at Tsarskoïe-Selo the Grand-Duchess Helena Vladimirovna of Russia (1882-1957), daughter of Vladimir Alexandrovich of Russia (1847-1909) and Maria Pavlovna (1854-1920).
