Very beautiful biscuit model of the bust representing Marie-Thérèse of France (1778-1851), after the Bosio model of 1825, on a porcelain pedestal with a beau bleu ground and gold threads.

Sèvres Royal Factory, Charles X period, year 1829.

Incised mark on the back of the bust: M 29 n ° 3 and Mf for Louis Mascret fils, sculptor and modeller at Sèvres from 1825 to 1864.

Mark painted under the pedestal: C crowned in blue dated 29 for 1829, mark of the gilder Moyez dated 21 January 1825 and mark of the blue background dated 2 January 1829 in green.

From the collection of Jules-Emile Chauvizé, who was Finance director of the Sèvres factory from 1913 to 1927.

Marie-Thérèse-Charlotte de France was the daughter and eldest child of Louis XVI and Marie-Antoinette. Born in 1778, she was imprisoned during the Revolution but eventually freed, and in 1799 married her first cousin the Duc d'Angoulême, eldest son of the Comte d'Artois, the future King Charles X.

After the Restauration the Sèvres factory continued to produce busts of the royal family, and examples of the Duchesse d'Angoulême were made from 1825, after a model by the sculptor François-Joseph Bosio, who was given the title of Baron in that year.

Examples are in the Louvre (OA 11376), in the Musée des Arts décoratifs (marked m.29 no.3) and the Bordeaux Decorative arts Museum.
