Rare and luxurious 18k gold tubular lighter containing a braided tinder wick, closed at the ends, one of which by a cover surmounted by an eagle with outstretched wings standing on a sphere decorated with a star and retaining a diamond pendant. The lighter with a chiseled decoration of romantic-style flowers surrounding the Gothic letters probably VE / WE, the whole set with rose-cut diamonds. It is embellished with two gold chains serving as necessary, one ending with a rectangular zoned agate plate (an applique element missing), the other with a finely chiseled fish with eyes set with red stones.
Good overall condition.
19th century, probably Germany circa 1840, apparently unmarked.
French customs mark with the "owl" characterizing second-hand jewelry of foreign origin (exists since 1994). It guarantees that the jewel is made of at least 18k gold.
